Rangiku is, very simply, bubbly, confident and loyal. Her friendly attitude and ability to understand people are what really define her personality. She likes to have a good time, and for others to do the same, but despite this carefree-attitude she is entirely capable of being serious and offers excellent advice.

She is far more forgiving and generous to others than to herself, so despite her confidence and very joking attitude that puts others at ease, she is also rather self critical. This mostly comes into play when she considers her own behaviour and actions and the way she has treated people.

Her faults? Possibly an over-enjoyment of sake from time to time. And occasionally oversleeping.

Rangiku's origins are unknown – she was placed in an orphanage when only a few months old, but was adopted by a Japanese family living in London. She lived a normal life, until she received an unusual letter. However, rather than being perturbed, when the letter arrived from Hogwarts both she and her parents jumped at the opportunity. She wanted to go simply because of her curiosity and love of fun, they because she was a rather wild child (often disappearing on "adventures"), and although they loved her, they hoped a strict boarding school might straighten her out a little.

Upon entering Hogwarts she was placed in Hufflepuff, something she initially questioned a little because her brave and adventurous (and rebellious) spirit. However, she quickly realised that it was her friendly nature and loyalty that really defined her, and that the thoughtful advice and support she offered to her friends (as well as a well aimed hex when called for) meant she was a true Hufflepuff (even if she was a little more outrageous than some of her counterparts.)

Charms was always her favourite subject at school – especially when she could use said charms against other students who picked on her friends, or gave her a hard time (either for being muggle born or for her generous... assets.) Despite being a fairly lazy student, she excelled in Charms and developed an interest in it that encouraged her to put enough effort in to become a very skilled witch and a dangerous opponent in a duel.

After graduating Hogwarts she spent some time traveling, which largely consisted of exploring different bars across the world, and glorious shopping sprees... at least, that is what she lets most people assume, and often doesn't correct them.
In reality she spent some time as an Auror, completing the three year program and serving for two years and gaining a reputation as very skilled, if a little unorthodox. Eventually the Ministry and the way it conducted it affairs got on her nerves and she decided to return to Hogwarts to find what she jokes is a slightly less demanding job, and to share her love and knowledge of Charms with other young witches and wizards.

She has been teaching, entertaining and plaguing people there for a couple of years.
